It kills me every time...

When my BFF Shelby (Schleck) came out in February we had such a good time. We yapped and laughed and yapped and laughed. We sat and yapped about absolutely nothing and everything and bored Will to tears.

We also went to visit a winery and had a tour and a lovely lunch and some sips of delicious wine. Then we decided to go outside and hang out on the front veranda and take some pictures. I really wanted some nice shots of Sadie and Schleck because it's pretty beautiful up there.

However, when we got outside Sadie made a beeline for the stairs and we spent the next 10 minutes going up and down them. Now, Sadie was only 14 months at this point so she needed help doing this. So we went up, we went down, we went up, we went...you get the picture.
Also, the stairs ended in the driveway so we had to be extra diligent in keeping her in our grasp just in case a car went past.

So, after many trips up and down the steps we took her over to the other end of the veranda (porch?) and were trying to entertain her and take some pictures. All she did was buck and carry on, so we went and indulged her stair fetish a bit longer and then took her back to the picture spot.
Again, she went running towards the stairs.

So we tried to distract her and get some pictures of Aunt Bee and Sadie. The progression of shots I got never fails to make me laugh until tears roll down my cheeks. I don't know if anyone but me will find this amusing but I asked "Bee" if I could post them for her to see too. She said yes, I hope she still agrees after she sees them.

Enjoy, and I'm narrating as we go.

Sadie runs towards steps again and Schleck walks with her:

Schleck picks up Sadie to bring her to our (non-death trap) spot to play and take pics. Notice Sadie's face at being denied more stair time:

I try to get Schleck to smile for the shot. She obliges, even though Sadie is bucking and carrying on:

We both laugh at something. Sadie is still thinking about the stairs even though we are trying to amuse her and talk to her:

Gosh, isn't Schleck a good sport? Look at this kid! I'm surprised she hasn't demanded I put down the damn camera and keep my own kid out of the street myself. Why am I making her the bad guy?

OK, the bucking has gotten to be too much. That kid can buck! She can also cry REALLY loud. Aunt Bee's arms need a break. This kid is nuts! But she continues to hold on and keep the little such and such from running to her precious stairs and getting run over. Where is this child's mother????:

Ahhh, defeated. If you have kids, heck, if you've ever been alone with a toddler for over 15 minutes you have had this look on your face at some point. It says, I can't take anymore of this bucking child! Do you want to get run over by a car? I will think only pleasant thoughts. I am not here, I am in my happy place:

And this is one second later. After we realized the look was on her face. We laughed and laughed:

And Sadie got down, and guess where she ran? Yeah, you know where.

Oh, and Aunt Bee is the BEST with Sadie. Seriously, she is like the baby/toddler queen. Sadie even said Shelbee that week. That's how much she rocks, happy-place-face notwithstanding. Like I said, if you don't have that face at least once around a crazy, bucking toddler than you're not human or you're on some awesome drugs.

I am plotting my plan and laying the groundwork for luring her to live near me. You hear that, A.B.?

Shameless begging

So, all you grandparents, are you enjoying the pictures of your granddaughter? Do you realize how many more (and better) pics it would be possible to view if only I had a better camera that didn't make me want to scream? Alas, my camera doesn't take a decent indoor shot to save its life, and 2 out of 5 other shots are blurry.
Do you know that if I had a DSLR camera I could take the most amazing pictures?
And I would promise to update faithfully with pictures taken by said camera?
Did you know that?

Here are some pics that could have been...but alas...blurry...

So, you know, if you have a DSLR lying around and feel it's time to upgrade... :)

Patience is an overrated virtue

This is what happens in 1/1000th of a second when you go out onto the deck minus Sadie just for 3/1000ths of a second.
YOU DO NOT GO OUTSIDE WITHOUT SADIE.

Workin' Hard or Hardly...Oh, forget it.

Sadie and Dada workin' on their computers.

Where's Sadie?

Where did she go?

Where's Sadie Again?

Outside! The Video

Here we are just messin' around outside. You can see my new tricycle. You know you're jealous.

Outside!

Here are some pics of playing outside. And playing in the sprinkler, which was big fun for everyone. It's been raining these last few days. Summer, where are you?
But it is good news for the garden. Pictures of which are coming soon!

Mama, it's hot!

It is HOT today! In the 90s. We went in the sprinkler in the yard, which really does cool you off. Then we had dinner. It was too hot to eat much but Sadie managed to eat part of a popsicle for dessert.

It was pretty funny to see the look on her face the first lick she took as it was a lime popsicle and a bit tart. Then I started taping. Enjoy!

New Shoes

Well, it finally happened. We finally lost a shoe for good. After several instances of losing a shoe and then retracing our steps and finding it we officially lost one. So we bought her some Converse. Which are not only adorable but also difficult, if not impossible, to kick off.

Here are a couple of new videos. Nothing exciting, but you can hear Sadie's favorite new word.

Sadie and the pets

Sadie loves those animala! And when not slowly killing Prudence by pulling her tail and terrorizing her she is actually pretty sweet with them. She will pet them gently and give them hugs and kisses. It's just that tail...when she sees that tail waving...YANK!

This is our neighbor dog, Baxter. He comes over to play in our yard with Laddie sometimes. Sadie likes to talk to him through the fence.

Hey, I'm pretty cute on my new couch!

This Little Piggy

So Sadie's hair is long enough to (sort of) have little pigtails. Oh my god, they are so cute I can't stand it.
Sadie also seems to recognize ABCs and letters. When she notices words on something she points at them and sings "abc,bc,bc,oo,p." I wa sreally surprised when she first did it. We sing the Alphabet Song every day after her bath when we put on lotion, but still.
And here are some pics with her piggies:

Picture Smorgasbord

Look at the Senorita with flowers in her hair! Some much delayed pics for you all.

At the Park

Here are some pictures of Sadie at the playground and in the yard. I can't believe how big she's getting! She's adding new words every day. In the past 2 weeks she's added: toes, elbows, circle, apple (pineapple), puppy, boat, car, wawa, bowl. That's all I can think of right now.

Oh, and sadie HATES swings, it seems. Every time we go to the park I put her in them and she gets upset and wants out immediately. Check out the pic below.

Week of 3-16-08 pictures

Here are a few pictures of Sadie. Sorry I have been so awful about keeping up. I am working on getting some videos going too.

Dancing II: Reggae Boogaloo

Another dancing video. This girl just loves to dance.

Bubbles!

Sadie learned the word "Bubble." And since she LOVES bubbles she says it all the time. I've had to hide all the bubble containers or she spots them and yells.
She has to do them herself, you see. And although she's managed to make a bubble a couple of times it is a messy experience and not one I feel like doing 5 times a day. It is very cute, though, she knows how to blow.
Here are some pictures of her outside with bubbles from her fancy old bubble machine!
