So I Creep...

Yeah, I Creep!

Sadie has been sort of moving around but seemed unable to control the direction she traveled in. Well, here is video proving that today she figured out how to get where she wants to go!

And all this with an ear infection which has made her cranky for 1-1/2 weeks.

Here ya go.

Mmmm...Rocks.

We went swimming in a river today. It was cold in the water but it was hot outside, so it was wonderful.

Sadie tried out her new floating crab and had a good time with daddy. She also enjoys eating rocks and has to be watched constantly in order to stop her rock consumption. See pic.
Oh, yes. This morning we went to Baby Music Hour and Sadie was looking around while I helped her stand up. I let go and she stood by herself for about 10 seconds or so. A long time! I know it was a fluke but it was very cute!

Backyard Photo Session

Pioneers

We went to Living History today. This is a weekend festival with Civil War reenactments and fur trading posts and homemade snacks. All in all something I love. I had fresh-churned butter and we had a hayride.

Even dad liked it.

I bought a bonnet- yes, a bonnet, which I wore proudly all day. And even wore home in the car. And I may be wearing it next time you see me, too. Y'all are just lucky I didn't buy the dress that matched it.

A pic from our day:

Murray the Furry

Yesterday we had to put Murray to sleep. His glaucoma was getting really bad, as was his diabetes. There was no way to treat the eye surgically because he was sick. The doc said he was in pain and agreed it was time.
He was the sweetest, gentlest cat I have ever known. There will never be another like him.
We miss you, you furry Mursky-boy. Goodbye to my Striped Cat. Rest In Peace.

Sadie's 1st Birthday

No, we didn't have her birthday party yet, silly! She went to her friend's party.
Where she went in the pool and watched him eat cake. No cake for Sadie. Here are some pictures of her with her buddies.

And a laughing and smiling picture as well:

Splish Splash

Sadie learned how to splash recently. This is why we no longer wash her in the kitchen sink. The floor was wet, the counters were drenched, and there was water dripping from the cabinets.
We tried to get a video and she did splash a little but of course the minute she saw the camera she became obsessed with grabbing the dishes that were near her.

But here it is anyway:

More eating pics

So here are some more videos of Sadie eating.
She tried broccoli for the first time, and she liked it. She's not a big fan of the spoon so she feeds herself unless she's in the mood and I have something for her to try that can't get in any other way.
She loves being in charge. I don't blame her, I wouldn't want someone shoving a spoon into my mouth either.
Well, enjoy.

We're going to the country, we're going to the fair

Here are some pics of us at the Oregon Country Fair. It is held in a wooded area lined with booths built out of trees. It is like a fairyland in there. And a hippie-fest. And for my fellow vegetarians it has the most awesome food. There are no Italian sausages, cheap burgers or Bloomin' Onions here, so ha!
We had Afghani food. Yum.

Redwood National Park

We took a ride down to the redwoods in California. It was a long drive and although Sadie had a few crying jags she was a real good sport about it.
The trees are immense and amazing. Even Sadie laughed when we walked through the woods. Here are some pics for your enjoyment.

July 3, 2007

So everything is good and we are plugging along. Sadie is up to the usual. Sitting, talking- rarara, dadada, etc.
I wanted to post some pictures. Look at the life-size Simpsons statues we have in our city hall. I figured it would be cute to take a pic. Springfield is trying to win the movie premiere since the Simpsons live in a Springfield too.

Anyway, it is getting hot here finally. I am looking forward to some swimming in lakes.

Sadie feeds herself pears

Here she is eating the pear. Watch how she hates to get a big chunk. Right now we are just playing with our food, it seems. As long as we have nutritious breastmilk we are good!

What fun!

Sorry, it's been a while. Things have been crazy at the office.

Sadie has been cranky the last few days. And I mean cranky. Not even mommy is calming her fast. So I felt around in her mouth and I can feel a spot on her lower gum that's rough. Will feels it too. So I guess we'll have a tooth soon, maybe.

She ate a big piece of pear yesterday. I gave her half of a very ripe pear and she sucked on it and ate about half until it was too small and in pieces. I have a video of her today eating a pear that I will post soon.

Anyway, watch this video of her laughing while daddy bites her tummy.

6 Months Old!

So Sadie is 1/2 a year old! It's hard to believe she has been here that long but also hard to believe she hasn't been here forever.

She is really starting to Goo goo ga ga a lot. And she is saying dadadadadada. So far no mamamama. I'm trying not to take offense even though she doesn't know what it means.

They say dadada is easier to say and is usually before the M sound.

So here's a funny pic.

Mmmm...Oatmeal

OK, Now you may be tired of watching Sadie eat but this is really cute.

I was eating a bowl of rice and sitting on the floor with her while we were playing. She saw my bowl of rice and was watching me eat it and bouncing and laughing like she was interested. So I went and made her a little oatmeal and she was excited.

Watch her (sort of) gobble it up. She'll be swallowing all her food in no time!

Cereal, the serial.

Bananas!

Sadie's first cereal

We gave Sadie her first oatmeal on Tuesday 6/5. Her first cereal of any kind, actually.

What did she think of it? Well, she definitely wasn't too excited. Everything I've read about feeding your baby says to follow cues and not force so if she doesn't want it she doesn't have to have it.

I tried again today, again with oatmeal. She had a lot of fun spitting it out. I gave her her own spoon and she had a good time trying to get it into her mouth. I don't think she swallowed anything, though.

And the faces she made when she got banana! I don't know if she swallowed some and that felt strange to her or what. But she did not like that.

I am posting a few pics and there will be videos to see soon.

Why, hello!

Well, here we are, joining the blogosphere. Hopefully I will get to post often and keep all y'all up to date on the life and times of Sadie. And the life and times of her parents too.
