The End of an Era

So we are on day 3 of absolutely no boo-boos. Any of you who know Sadie know how attached to nursing she has been these past 2.5 years.
I can't believe that she really is stopping before Silas comes.

Now that doesn't mean that she isn't still obsessed with boo-boos. She has to look at them, all her animals have to partake of them, she inquires about their welfare- Are boo-boos cold? Are they warm? Do boo-boos want to watch a movie? They want to come out and visit, - she sometimes has to pretend to has boo-boos.
But the past few days I didn't say no in the morning and she just pretended on her own.

I've promised her a No Boo-boos party at Dancing Mouse (aka Chuck E. Cheese). So now we'll have to pay up in the next week or two. Cake & pizza and lots of fun. Sounds good to me.

I'm glad we've reached this milestone. But I'd be lying if I said it doesn't make me a bit (OK, a lot) weepy. Nursing was tough going at first, but turned into one of the best things I've ever done, and I'm proud of us for going so long.

Heat Wave

Man, oh man, is it hot. We are heading into day 3 of temperatures over 100 degrees. And the temps leading up to it were in the 90s, so it's not like it was cool.

Some of y'all may know that I am not a huge fan of air conditioning. But I have to say that the portable air conditioner we got his summer is the most wonderful appliance ever in the history of the world.

We've set up shop in the living room and are all sleeping out there. Having a fun family slumber party.
Sadie has been loving her kiddie pool. It has a little slide and she slides down it for 20 minutes straight. I even sat in it, it is so dang hot.

Anyway, on Sunday we went swimming at a nearby lake. It was wonderfully cool and we all had fun.
Here are a couple of pictures of Sadie after swimming. She is contemplating the slide. At first it was too scary. Then it was OK if I held her hand. Then she finally went down on her own and said Mama, I love the slide!

We have one cautious kid when it comes to things like that.
Anyway, here she is, pondering the slide. I didn't get any pictures of her on it as I had to be close the whole time.

Dreams

Sadie woke up the other night crying and whimpering and, half asleep, asked me Mama, why you did not catch me when I fell off the table?
And you know what? I didn't realize it was possible to feel a teensy bit guilty that I didn't catch her- but it is. Sheesh.

She was very upset and I realized she had just had a dream where she fell off a table. So I explained it to her the next morning when she asked. So now she keeps asking, Why I fell off the table in my dream, Mama?

She's finding the whole dreams thing very intriguing.

And we are off in a day or two on a trip to northern California and a wildlife safari. Fun! Sadie keeps asking when we are leaving on our cation.

We'll take lots of pictures!

Sadie Sums Up the Human Race At Dinner

"Some people are bad, some people are sad,
some people are glad
and some people like to step on stuff."

How true, Sadie. How true.

More Puppy Love

As you can see here, Sadie has always loved Laddie and the cats. Well, that hasn't changed.

Look at that crazy kid.

And look at that good dog.
