Fun in the Sun (Part One)

Well, we're back! And here are a few pictures from the Dominican Republic. I will be posting more soon. I am working on getting them all sorted out.

Two Years Old!

It's hard to believe that Sadie is two years old. We had a great birthday day. When she woke up we gave her the guitar (really a ukulele) that we got her. She really likes it, which is most gratifying.

Then we emptied out her piggy bank and took all the money to the bank and put it in her account. For those of you who don't know, Sadie is obsessed with her Dollar Pig and loves getting dollars to put in. She even goes in my wallet and steals out dollars and asks me Put dollar in pig?

Then we decided to be as completely middle America as possible and take Sadie to Chuck E. Cheese. Well, actually, she spent all week telling me I like pizza! so we thought it would be cool to go get a pizza there and play some games.

She liked this one:

She didn't really like this one:

My favorite, Skee Ball. Hey, looks like she has the hang of it:

Good job, Sadie. You pick one ball up and then you..

Um, just one ball...Hmmm, maybe she isn't getting the hang of it:

Oh, it doesn't matter. Skee ball is fun!

Even if I did have to retrieve one of the balls from 4 lanes over.

Having fun and pizza:

And then we went to the movies. She didn't last through the whole thing but we had a good time.

A Sadie Glossary

I know that other people's kids are hard to understand when they're two. So I've created a glossary to help you all along when speaking with Sadie.

Moin: More

Too Heavy: Too hard. Or too heavy, but usually it means it's too hard for her.

Man. As in "Moin guy" and "Where guy?" after the exterminator leaves.

The letter "F": Is pronounced as "Sh." So the following words are:
Shore: Floor
Shish: Fish
Sheet: Feet
Shun: Fun
"I no shall osh!": I no fall off!
You get the picture.

Yain: Rain. All "R" sounds are "Y."

Booboos: I think we're all aware of what that means.

Nope: No. She has stopped saying no. It's now Nope.

Nope. Just sharting!: Sadie's answer when you ask her if she's pooped in her diaper. Now, just switch out the "sh" for an "f" like mentioned above and you'll know what she's saying.

Too far (shar) away: Can't reach it.

lonnie: Laundry, which is usually scary. So "lonnie scawy."

Nakey Baby: Wants to run around naked.
See Mommy Nakey:
After Dada gives her her nightly bath she has to run nakey out to me. Why? So I can see her nakey, I suppose. Don't ask, I have no idea.

I'm sure there's more, but those are the standouts. What a crazy kid. What a crazy 2 years old tomorrow kid. Wow.

I was painting the other day and Sadie wanted to paint as well. So I loaded up a plate with some of my acrylics, showed her the cup of water and paper towel blotting thing and let her get to it.
I got an extra 1/2 hour of work done and Sadie had a ton of fun. She painted again the next day. And she's got an easel waiting to get set up for more painting, courtesy of Auntie M and Uncle E. I have no doubt she's going to love it.

We had a great one, thanks. We had a delicious dinner sans turkey.
My cheesecake got rave reviews. Sadie ate a bit of everything.

And Rachel, Sadie and I watched The Sound of Music. And when we sang Climb Every Mountain Sadie joined in. It was very inspirational. You should have been there.

Rachel, Tristan and Sadie have a snuggle on the couch.
